Read This Before You Start: Why Most Creators Fail on OnlyFans (and How Not To)
💬 Creators answer creators in our free Telegram group, come ask
OnlyFans, Fansly and MYM Fans look like gold mines from the outside. Huge numbers, celebrity success stories, viral screenshots. But behind the headlines, the reality for most creators is very different. If you don't understand how this market works, you'll probably fail. If you do, you can build something real. Generic advice is one reason so many pages stall, which is why we argue for a personalized plan over generic OnlyFans advice.
The big numbers (the official ones)
OnlyFans' parent company, Fenix International, publishes audited accounts in the UK. For the year ended November 30, 2025, reporting on those filings showed:
- About 5 million registered creator accounts, of which roughly 2.5 million were active during the year.
- About 437 million registered fan accounts, of which roughly 132 million were active.
- Around $6.2-6.3 billion paid out to creators in the year.

The "average creator" myth
Divide $6.3 billion by 5 million accounts and you get about $1,250 per account per year. Sounds okay? It's misleading.
- Many accounts are inactive or barely used.
- A small group of top creators earns a huge share of the total.
- Most pages earn very little, often a few subscribers or none.
The money is real, but it's extremely concentrated.
The market reality: an elite and a crowd
- The elite: a minority with thousands of subscribers, often backed by strong marketing, a team, or a long head start.
- The crowd: the vast majority, with a handful of subscribers, struggling to get seen among millions of pages.
Platforms don't send you traffic the way social media does. You bring your own fans. That's the part most beginners don't know.
Who actually wins
From what we see coaching creators, three profiles do well:
- Creators with a strong personal brand: a clear look, voice and niche fans remember. See reduce your competition.
- Creators with a real promotion system: daily traffic from X, Reddit, Threads, Telegram or TikTok. See Telegram as a search engine.
- Creators who treat it like a business: pricing, offers, retention, numbers. See the value ladder.
Looks help, but they're not enough. Strategy beats luck.

7 reasons pages fail
| Mistake | Fix |
|---|---|
| No traffic plan | Pick 2 promo channels and post daily |
| No niche | Define your universe and stick to it |
| Underpricing | Price like a brand, not a bargain bin |
| Ignoring DMs | Reply personally, fast |
| Posting random content | Plan weekly themes |
| One platform only | Keep a backup: Fansly, MYM, Fanvue or Uncove |

FAQ
How many creators are on OnlyFans?
For the year ended November 30, 2025, OnlyFans reported about 5 million creator accounts, roughly 2.5 million of them active, according to reporting on its UK filings.
How much does the average OnlyFans creator make?
OnlyFans doesn't publish a typical income. Dividing total payouts by accounts gives about $1,250 a year, but earnings are highly concentrated, so most creators make much less.
Does OnlyFans bring you subscribers?
Not really. Discovery on the platform is limited; most creators drive their own traffic from social media and communities.
Can a beginner still succeed in 2026?
Yes, with a niche, a consistent promotion system and good pricing. It takes months of steady work, not weeks.
Bottom line
The platforms offer real opportunity, but only to creators who act like professionals. Know the numbers, pick your lane, bring your own traffic and stay consistent.
