A Fake AI 'College Girl' Is Using SDSU's Name to Sell Fanvue Subs: What Real Creators Should Take From It

By Girls Lounge · · 3 min read

Meet "Kaia Wilder": 19, blonde, a communications major at San Diego State, loves North Park murals.

Small problem: she doesn't exist.

She's an AI-generated persona, and her operators have been using SDSU's name, merch and campus vibes to funnel followers to a paid Fanvue page.

What happened

According to SDSU's student paper The Daily Aztec (October 2, 2026) and SanDiegoVille (October 7, 2026):

  • The Instagram account @kaiawildr had about 21,400 followers and 44 posts as of October 8.
  • Its bio presents Kaia as a 19-year-old SDSU communications and media student and tags the university's official Instagram account.
  • Posts show her in SDSU merch, on AI-generated versions of campus, and in suggestive shots (a towel, a rain-soaked shirt).
  • Story links pointed to a Fanvue page with a lingerie GIF, a "pay" button and a seven-day free trial. The Aztec notes the link only asked users to click "I'm 18+", with no real age check.
  • SDSU reported the account to Meta. Instagram has since put an AI-generated label on the profile and its posts, and the account now discloses it's AI.
  • As of the latest reports, the account was still active. Nobody has publicly identified who runs it or how much it has earned.

SanDiegoVille also points out that in August 2026, Instagram replaced its "AI creator" tag with a more explicit "AI-generated profile" label, and accounts that don't disclose may get reduced visibility.

Why you should care

Okay babe, deep breath. This isn't "AI girls are taking over."

It's a lesson in what actually sells, and where the line is.

  • The trick is fake familiarity. A "local college girl" with real neighborhoods and a real school feels relatable. That's the same thing that works for you, except yours is real.
  • Borrowing a brand is risky. Using a school's name, logo or merch to sell adult content gets you reported, labeled and watched. Don't tag institutions, employers or brands you're not partnered with. Ever.
  • Labels are coming for everyone. Instagram's AI-generated profile label is now a thing. If you use AI tools in your own content, disclose it on every platform you post on.
  • Your face can be the raw material. SanDiegoVille cites a WIRED investigation into AI influencer accounts that allegedly reused photos and videos of real adult performers. Watermark and keep dated originals.

What to do this week

  1. Lean into proof of life: voice notes, unedited stories, live moments, inside jokes with your fans. An AI can fake a face. It can't fake you on a Tuesday night.
  2. Audit your bio and tags: no school, employer or brand tags unless you have permission.
  3. Spread your eggs: don't rely on a single platform or a single Instagram account. A second home like Uncove gives your real content somewhere to live if one account gets hit (our take on Uncove).
  4. Search yourself every couple of weeks (reverse image search, IG and TikTok search) to catch copies early.

FAQ

Who is Kaia Wilder?

An AI-generated Instagram persona (@kaiawildr) presented as a 19-year-old San Diego State communications student. She is not a real person, and the reports say SDSU has no connection to the account.

What platform was the account promoting?

According to The Daily Aztec, Instagram story links pointed to a paid Fanvue page offering direct payment or a seven-day free trial.

What did SDSU and Instagram do?

SDSU reported the account to Meta. Instagram added an AI-generated label to the profile and its posts. As of the latest reports, the account was still active.

Can I use a school or brand name in my creator bio?

Not without permission. Using an institution's name or logo to promote adult content invites reports and possible trademark complaints. Keep your bio about you.

Should I worry about AI personas stealing my fans?

Focus on what AI can't fake: real conversations, real voice, real personality. Watermark your content and keep dated originals in case someone reuses your face or clips.
