Let's talk about the least sexy topic on this site, because it might be the most important one: your safety.

Every photo and video you shoot with your phone can carry hidden information called metadata. Sometimes that includes the exact GPS location where you filmed it. Your apartment. Your street. Your gym.

When you share files outside the protected environment of OnlyFans, Fansly, MYM Fans or Uncove (on Telegram, by email, on a Google Drive, with an agency or a collaborator), that metadata can travel with the file. Here is how to strip it in two minutes.

What is metadata, exactly?

Metadata (often called EXIF data for photos) is information stored inside the file, invisible when you watch it. It can include:

  • GPS location (latitude and longitude, sometimes precise to a few meters)
  • Date and time of recording
  • Device info: phone model, camera settings, sometimes software versions
  • Editing history from some apps

Anyone who downloads the original file can read it with free tools in seconds.

Why it matters for creators

  • Stalking and doxxing risk: a single geotagged file can reveal where you live.
  • Pattern risk: dates and times reveal your routine.
  • Separation of identities: if you keep your creator life separate from your personal life, metadata is a leak you didn't know you had.

Rule of thumb: assume any file you send can end up anywhere. Clean it before it leaves your phone.

Method 1: re-export with CapCut (videos)

Editing apps like CapCut create a brand-new file when they export, and in normal use they do not copy the original GPS location into it.

  1. Open CapCut and start a new project.
  2. Import your video.
  3. Make a tiny edit: a light filter, a 1% crop or a transition. (Even a small edit forces a fresh export.)
  4. Export the video.
  5. Share the exported file, never the original from your camera roll.

Important: apps update often. Don't assume, verify (see "How to check" below).

Method 2: turn off location before you shoot

The best metadata is metadata that never gets recorded.

  • iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Camera → Never.
  • Android: open the Camera app → Settings → turn off Location tags / Save location (wording varies by brand).

Do this once and every future photo and video is cleaner by default.

Method 3: remove location when sharing photos

  • iPhone: in the Share sheet, tap Options at the top and switch off Location before sending.
  • Google Photos (Android): Settings → Sharing → turn on Remove geo location for shared items.

Method 4: other apps that re-export cleanly

  • Video: InShot, iMovie, Adobe Premiere Rush and similar editors that export a new file.
  • Photos: dedicated "metadata remover" or "EXIF remover" apps, or a simple screenshot of the photo (the screenshot is a new file without the original location).

How to check that the metadata is really gone

Never trust, always verify, especially for files that go to agencies, collaborators or Telegram.

  • On iPhone: open the photo/video in Photos and swipe up. If you see a map, location is still there.
  • On Android: open the file in Google Photos and swipe up for "Details".
  • On a computer: right-click → Properties / Get Info, or use a free EXIF viewer.

If you still see a location, run it through another method above.

Your 5-point safety checklist

  • ✅ Camera location turned off
  • ✅ Only share exported/cleaned files
  • ✅ Check a sample file once a month
  • ✅ Blur or avoid windows, street signs, mail and recognizable landmarks in shots
  • ✅ Use a link-in-bio and a separate creator email, not your personal accounts

FAQ

Does CapCut remove metadata from videos?

Re-exporting a video through CapCut creates a new file, which normally does not carry over the original GPS location. Because apps change, always check the exported file before sharing it.

Do OnlyFans and Fansly remove metadata?

Major platforms generally process uploaded media, but the risk is mostly with files you share elsewhere: Telegram, email, cloud drives, agencies and collaborators. Clean those files yourself.

How do I stop my iPhone from saving location on photos?

Go to Settings, Privacy & Security, Location Services, Camera, and choose Never. When sharing, tap Options in the Share sheet and turn Location off.

How can I check if a photo has location data?

On iPhone or Google Photos, open the photo and swipe up: if you see a map or place name, location data is still attached.

Is a screenshot safe to share?

A screenshot is a new image and does not include the original photo's GPS location, but make sure nothing in the picture itself (street signs, windows, mail) reveals where you are.

Bottom line

Two minutes of cleaning can save you months of stress. Turn off location, re-export before you share, and check your files. Sexy on camera, invisible on the map. 🔒
