You keep seeing the blue link in bios. Your favorite creator says "the rest is on my OF." So what is OnlyFans, exactly, and what happens when you click subscribe?
Here is the plain version, built from OnlyFans' own terms and recent reporting, checked on October 23, 2026.
The short answer
OnlyFans is a subscription website. Creators post photos, videos, livestreams and messages behind a paywall, and fans pay them directly, either with a monthly subscription or by unlocking single posts and messages.
The site is run by Fenix International Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. It keeps a fee of 20% of every fan payment, and the rest goes to the creator, according to its Terms of Use.
How big is OnlyFans?
- $7.85 billion was paid by fans on the platform in 2025, and OnlyFans' 20% cut came to $1.55 billion in revenue, Fortune reported on October 20, 2026.
- The BBC reported on August 25, 2026 that the site had 132 million paying subscribers and 2.5 million active creators in 2025.
- In May 2026, OnlyFans said it had more than 4 million registered creator accounts and 377 million registered fan accounts, per Variety.
It is not only adult content. The BBC notes that the site hosts everything from cooking to fitness videos, even if it is best known for explicit content.
How OnlyFans works for fans, step by step
1. Create a free account
You need an email address, a username and a password. The Terms of Use say you must be at least 18, able to sign a contract, and legally allowed to view the content where you live. Depending on your location, you may be asked to prove your age with an email check, a selfie or an ID. We explain that in why OnlyFans keeps asking for face verification.
2. Add a payment card
Before you can subscribe, you add payment details to your account. All prices are shown and charged in US dollars, and sales tax is added on top where it applies.
3. Subscribe to a creator
Each creator sets her own monthly price, and some pages are free. When you click Subscribe, the subscription renews automatically at the current price unless you switch off auto-renew or close your account.
If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for, then the content locks again.
4. Pay for extras if you want them
- Pay-per-view (PPV): locked messages, posts or streams that you unlock one by one. On free pages, this is how creators earn.
- Tips: you can tip on posts, streams, messages or straight from her profile.
- Messages and livestreams: chat in DMs and join live shows when the creator goes live.
- Wallet credits: you can preload money, but the terms say unused credits are non-refundable.

How do you find creators?
For most of its history, OnlyFans did not recommend anyone. Fans found creators on X, Reddit or Instagram, then followed the link.
That is starting to change. CEO Keily Blair told Fortune that OnlyFans began testing creator discovery in the Netherlands and plans to try it in more markets. We covered the new Discover page and discovery tests in our news section.
Until discovery reaches you, the safest habit is simple: follow official links only, from the creator's own bio or a page like our creator directory. Fake accounts are a real problem, as our story on 371 fake CeCe Rose accounts shows.
Who is behind OnlyFans?
OnlyFans launched in 2016 and is run from London. Leonid Radvinsky bought it from its British founders in 2018 and owned it until his death in March 2026, the BBC reports. The full story, including the latest stake sale, is in who owns OnlyFans in 2026.
Is there an OnlyFans app?
No. OnlyFans runs in your browser, but you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. Here is how to put OnlyFans on your phone.

OnlyFans alternatives fans use
OnlyFans is the biggest, not the only one. A few creators we follow post on Uncove, where you can browse verified creators on the platform itself, for example Celine_du_sud Paid link or Chloe_coquine Paid link.
Subs Paid link is the newer platform co-founded by OnlyFans co-founder Tim Stokely. Compare them in Subs vs OnlyFans and Uncove vs Subs.
Quick checklist before you subscribe
- Check the price and whether the page also sells PPV.
- Decide if you want auto-renew on, and turn it off if not.
- Only use links from the creator's official accounts.
- Remember that leaving is easy: here is how to delete an OnlyFans account.
